Food Loss & Waste Protocol
The Food Loss and Waste Accounting and Reporting Standard is a global standard that provides requirements and guidance for quantifying and reporting on the weight of food and/or associated inedible parts removed from the food supply chain.
The standard gives guidance on WHAT to measure and HOW to measure so that companies, cities and countries can develop an inventory in a consistent and transparent way. Its wide adoption will allow for better decision making to minimize food loss and waste, thereby enhancing food security, economic growth, and environmental health.
It was developed as a multi-stakeholder process by the World Resources Institute (WRI) with the participation of WBCSD, the Consumer Goods Forum, EU FUSIONS, UNEP, FAO and WRAP.
BCSD Singapore helps its Members apply the tool and navigate the various requirements.
We are also a Member of Singapore Foods Standards Committee that establishes guidelines on food loss and waste.
