Philippines: Training to track and manage GHG emissions

An update from a UN report states that runaway growth in the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) is raising the risk of “severe, pervasive and irreversible impacts” over the coming decades. Scientific reports also confirm that continued unchecked emissions exacerbate global warming which has already cut grain production, raised sea levels and caused climate extremes such as torrential rains, severe flooding, and heat waves. These problems are also likely to intensify if GHG emissions are not brought under control. On a positive note, more than incremental emission reductions from the usual carbon offsets or swapping of a few light bulbs, many companies around the world go for smarter reductions that deliver savings both on company expenses and GHG emissions.

Recognizing the urgency of this global situation and pursuing a more localized initiative to deliver opportunities to reduce GHG emissions and save on operational expenses to PBE member companies and the rest of the Philippine’s industry sector, we are inviting you to a Training Program on GHG Inventory and Management, based on the GHG Protocol Standard, on September 29 to October 1, 2014. As the program would require much focus on scientific and mathematical computation and reporting of identified emission sources, a live-in venue is preferred and will be announced to registered participants later.
